CARE GUIDE

TLC FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
All AFJ rings are crafted to withstand life long wear however all jewellery needs tender loving care to ensure it remains strong and sturdy 4 life.
DAY TO DAY CARE
🧪 Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Remove your jewellery when swimming and using strong/medical grade detergents.
🧦 Add Your Jewellery Last: Avoid applying lotions, perfumes and hairspray when you are wearing your jewellery. Dress yourself first, then add your jewellery last.
🫙 Store Separately: Store each piece separately in a jewellery pouch or jewellery box to reduce scratching & oxidisation.
LIFE LONG CARE
🚗 MOT Check Ups: For Engagement rings or wedding rings with stones I recommend an annual ring check with me to ensure no stones are loose and there is no hidden damage.
🏡 Jewellery Insurance: For precious pieces such as Engagement rings and Wedding Rings ensure your rings are privately insured incase of theft or accidental loss/damage.
🖊️ Engraving Touch Ups: Over lifetime wear, ring engraving may become worn and faded. Renewing your engraving may be needed for heavy wear over many years. This can easily be done and starts from £40.
HOW TO CLEAN
🏠 At Home: Fill a bowl of warm water with a few drops of washing up liquid (any brand works). Drop your grubby jewellery into the soapy water and let it soak for a few minutes.
Take a soft toothbrush and scrub all over your ring (don't be shy) including inside and on and around any stones.
Rinse off the water well and use a jewellery cleaning cloth (Silver or Gold depending on your piece) and run it through the cloth a few times & voila!
Repeat as often as you'd like, I usually do this once a month or whenever I remember <3
🧼 Deep Cleaning: With wear, scratches are inevitable. If you want a full reset, a deep workshop clean and polish is needed no more than once a year. This starts from £20 and can be returned to me or to a local jeweller for a deep clean.
🚫 Avoid Home Ultrasonic Cleaners: Especially if you have Emerald set in your piece, ultrasonic cleaners can damage your stone and setting if used frequently. Use my at home cleaning method instead and leave the ultrasonics to the jewellers!
